The appliqué folk bird collection

Since relocating from the city to the countryside, I’ve found so much joy in being surrounded by nature. The landscapes are beautiful, but it’s the wildlife that has truly captured my heart. Watching deer, hares, owls, finches, and swifts in their natural habitat has been a daily reminder of the quiet, simple beauty of life.

Inspired by this, I wanted to bring a sense of that life and movement into my textile landscapes. To do that, I needed to learn appliqué. After months of experimenting and refining different designs, I’ve created three pieces I’m genuinely proud of, and I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I do. By combining curved piecing, appliqué, and geometric quilting, each wall hanging has a unique character.

Charm features white birds flying in a blue sky below a strawberry moon, set against a rolling landscape inspired by the Mendip Hills near my home in Somerset.

Swift has a striking contrast, with black swifts soaring through a soft peach-pink sky. I tried to capture the movement of these beautiful birds as they swoop and dance around the sky.

Sun Bird showcases one of my favourite birds, the buzzard. I often spot these majestic birds gliding over the fields, hunting for field mice and voles.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explore my latest work.
